If you ever get the chance to go fly fishing in taupo, make sure you do it, it is absolutely awesome. I have always liked doing a bit of fishing, but usually just the normal style of dropping a line in the water and waiting for a bite. I went out for a day in some streams near the lake and got taught how to properly do it and it was just great. I hadn’t realized how much technique is actually involved and the precision and planning that goes into catching the monster you’re after. So definitely make sure you do it if you get the opportunity.
