Test Question On Pop3 Server Gmail. Help?

I am looking for an explanation on pop3 server gmail. I am taking a test in a class that I am taking and I must have missed the class where we discussed this. I am totally lost! I know what the pop3 is, but I am not familiar with how it relates to gmail. I guess I am just going to miss that question, because I am just sitting here as lost as I can possibly be! I guess that will teach me to miss class. Especially since I was just going to the mall, and was not sick. What goes around comes around I suppose.
